AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA DOCG 2016
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2016 Scuderia Italia originates on the hills of Mezzane di Sotto, in the heart of the Veronese Valpolicella area. Made from Corvinone, Corvina and Rondinella grapes, it is a structured Venetian red wine produced according to the traditional grape-drying method.
During the harvest, only the finest clusters are selected. They must be perfectly healthy and sufficiently loose to ensure proper air circulation during the natural drying process. The grapes are placed in small crates and carefully monitored throughout this delicate stage.
The grapes are divided into two batches and dried for different periods: 70% for approximately 100 days and the remaining 30% for up to 120 days. The gradual loss of water concentrates sugars, aromas and extract, contributing to the wine’s richness and complexity. After fermentation, the Amarone ages for 36 months in French and American oak barriques, followed by a further period in stainless steel.
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2016 displays an intense ruby-red colour. Its broad and complex bouquet offers aromas of red fruit preserved in alcohol, cherry jam and wild berries, accompanied by floral notes and hints of coffee, chocolate, liquorice, tobacco and spices. On the palate it is warm, full-bodied and enveloping, with well-integrated tannins and a remarkably long finish.
It pairs particularly well with game, roasts, red meats, pasta with meat sauce and aged cheeses. Thanks to its structure and long persistence, it can also be enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine. Serve at approximately 18°C and open the bottle at least two hours before tasting.
